Cracking Audio?

Post by JPaalman » Sun Jun 07, 2015 2:30 pm

I've been using drstic for some days now and, after adjusting some video settings, everyting worked fine for a couple of days, until now. Suddendly, the audio started glitching. It works fine at the beginning, but after a minute or so, the audio starts making cracking noises and stutters. I didn't change any settings during the last days, so I really can't explain the sudden errors. I've tried closing all apps and restarting drastic, but nothing worked. Does anybody have a solution?

Some info; I'm running the last version of drastic. This is a beta version, but it worked fine until some time ago. I've got a Note 3 with a 2.3 GHz quad-core processor and 3 GB RAM. The ROM files are on my SD Card which was tested with a reading speed of 392 MB/s. The files are uncompressed.

(Might my SD tester be malfunctioning since 400 MB/s is insanely fast?)

Thanks for trying!

If you changed the audio latency to low, then try a higher settings.

The glitch occurs on any audio latency. By now I've tried cleaning the cache partition, rebooting the device, reinstalling the app, moving all files to the local storage and turning off high graphics. Nothing worked. Does anyone know what can possibly be causing the glitch?

Also, the glitch appears temporarily, then goes silent for a while. it usually happens for 30 seconds, then goes away for a minute. This keeps repeating. I've thought about increasing the performance of my device, but I dont see that working because everything worked fine some time ago and I've checked the framerate; if the audio is glitching, its mostly at 110%. This is the same framerate as when the glitch is gone.

Could a developer please look at this?

Thank you!

Are you restarting the app each time you change the audio latency? Only then will it have an effect.

Do you have fast-forward enabled, or do you mean that it goes up to 110% without fast-forward?

I didn't restart the app, I'll try. And yes, the FPS would vary from anyting between 90 and 110, but usually between 110 and 110, without fast forwarding.

Update:
Due to the ghost settings glitch, the multi threaded 3D rendering has accidentely turned itself on. Now that it's on, the audio glitch has greatly been reduced. This setting is however known to give errors, so I'd like a definitive solution.

That microsd card speed is wrong. Even with uhs-1 and even in some of the best of the uhs-1 cards you are looking at sequential (not random) speeds of 99MB/s. One of 3 things is up with that number.

1. The tester you are using is reading megabits not megabytes and your speed of 400Mb/s (megabits/second) is 50MB/s (megabytes/second)
2. The tester is malfunctioning
3. If you bought your card online or not from a major retailer and a major brand from a major retailer's store directly then there is a high chance the card could be a fake. Fake memory cards are a massive business.
