Pokemon heart gold NTEVO save transfer issues

I recently purchased the full version of Drastic and I am having a great time playing Pokemon Heart Gold, yesterday I downloaded the NTEVO version of this game since we cant use wifi functions in drastic, I changed the savestates names from Pokemon_8.dss to Pokemon Heart Gold NTEVO.dss and also the backup files to the new rom's name, I loaded the NTEVO rom and found my savestate, however after taking a few steps ingame, opening any ingame menu or leaving a zone the game either freezes or kicks me back to drastic menu.
Starting a new game works fine and fluid but I wish to continue my existing save.
Additional information that may help (Idk maybe it will :p):
-The original rom is a rar file while the NTEVO is a nds file. -The game works fine without the dsv file for some reason.

Savestates can't reliably be transferred between different ROMs. You should make an in-game save using the original ROM and transfer the .dsv file in the backup directory to the new ROM.
