Latest Play Store version, on an Nvidia Shield (with latest update) and I've noticed that the sound crackles from time to time. Framerate stays good. Mostly noticed it in Contact and Advance Wars - Days of Ruin. Not a big deal, just wanted to know if this was normal or if there was a setting somewhere that might improve things. Tried messing with the frame skip and the audio latency and haven't had any real change.
Incredible emulator, this thing feels 99% perfect already!
Sound Crackles
Re: Sound Crackles
Hard to really know without more information.. One possibility is that the power governor has enough latency in increasing the clock speed when a change in activity warrants it that the audio buffer bottoms out. Could you try changing the power management settings and see if it has an effect? There's a thread on this here:

Re: Sound Crackles
That would make a lot of sense, unfortunately I am not rooted at the moment. I guess I'm just curious if anyone else had a similar experience with their Shields and if so I'll probably just quietly wait for the app continue to continue to get better. I'll try running the device plugged into the wall and see if things improve (assuming the governor responds to being plugged in).Exophase wrote:Hard to really know without more information.. Re: Sound Crackles
Could that be the reason why sampled audio in certain games like Asphalt would stutter from time to time? The game runs in full speed, and yet sounds are somewhat broken or just plain messed up.
Re: Sound Crackles
Depends on a lot of things. If you're not achieving full speed and the auto-frameskip doesn't kick in quickly enough, or still isn't enough to make it full speed you'll get sound drops. If the latency setting is lower than your device can handle you'll also hear sound drops. Streaming vs sequenced audio in-game shouldn't make a difference, unless there's a bug in the emulator.
