Random phone restart when using DraStic
Every single time i use DraStic now it causes my LG Optimus Showtime to restart. It always happens randomly in the middle of any game i am playing whether it be Pokemon or Kingdom Hearts or even Final Fantasy. The emulator runs perfectly and have had no other problems whatsoever. I have the latest version of DraStic and enjoy it very much except lately when it keeps restarting my phone it pushes me to want to just get rid of it and my roms so that i wont play so far into a game without saving and lose everything on purpose and waste my time. My phone never restarts when im doing something else so it must be the emulator. Ive tested to see if it was when i was playing it without having my phone charging or when i had a lower battery because i felt that maybe the power it took to play the emulator caused a significant temporary battery drop which tricked my phone into thinking it had to shut off. But that wasnt the case since it happened when i had it charging with full battery. So then i thought it was because i was playing with the fast forward speed at max and it overclocked too much and caused the aformentioned battery drop, but that wasnt the case either since it happened when i was playing at normal speed and when i had the sound enabled or disabled. It happened during all variations of gameplay so i am just wondering if this has happened to anyone else and if it is a regular problem.

He meant if you're usoing a custom Android ROM, like CyanogenMod.

I greatly apologize, i didnt intend for it to become a link. Forgive me. The roms i downloaded are very cool. And no i never went through cyanogen mods. I did some research and im 100% sure i didnt use those specific android ROMS.

I couldn't find the exact specs for your phone, but it's possible that you're either running out of RAM, or that it's overheating and shutting down after a while, specially if you have it overclocked.
You can try if it makes a difference to run the games from .nds directly, so unzip them if they're zipped.
Also don't enable the 'multi-threaded 3D' option.

I have a LG as well and it seems there's a possibility of it resetting after some time of heavy use. It used to happen after ~10 minutes of playing World of Goo. Haven't happened yet with Drastic though.

Re: Random phone restart when using DraStic
That actually seems like the most logical reason for why it does that. My phone overheats quite a bit when i use the emulator and my phone doesnt have that much RAM either so it makes alot of sense. Thanks man, i appreciate the help. I always ensure they are unzipped because i hated the loading and the multi threaded 3D is disabled and has been as well. Must just be the phone since its not extremely high end.

Re: Random phone restart when using DraStic
Will the none linear graphic option help? What is the minimum amount of RAM i need for the emulator to run with extremely overheating?
Re: Random phone restart when using DraStic
Are you overclocking your device? I'm surprised that such a low end phone would have overheating problems without overclocking. Maybe it's just of poor build quality :/VesperiRandsau wrote:Will the none linear graphic option help? What is the minimum amount of RAM i need for the emulator to run with extremely overheating?
Free RAM won't make a difference in overheating.. if you run out of RAM it'll just crash - maybe giving you a warning first, maybe not. But it shouldn't cause the phone to restart.
Turning off the linear filter probably won't help much. Turning multi-threaded 3D on would probably actually help more than it hurts, but it can cause graphics glitches and may cause emulator instability.
One thing you can legitimately do to lower load is to set the frameskip to some highish manual value. That'll make the graphics jerkier but will lower the demand of the emulation.
