I just bought DraStic and so far I love it. My only problem is that I'd like to have the controls not cover any of the screen. Is there a way to resize the lower screen so that it's not taking up the full screen and have the buttons to the side?

Yes, there is. You just have to edit the screen's size in the Layout Editor.
