Microphone problem - Resident Evil Deadly Silence

So in Resident Evil deadly silence there's this part where you have to blow some candles. I tried over and over and I can't for the life of me put out those ******* candles <_<. Even simulating the microphone noise does not seem to work. Is there a workaround for this?
