Crashing on FFIV - Xperia Z

Hi, I've been playing the European version of FFIV and am near end of game. Intermittently throughout the game has crashed during battles, particularly boss battles, but I've managed to get past by restarting. Now I'm at a hang that I can't get past. Have read through forums, changed settings, loaded from in game saves rather than save states etc. I feel like I've tried most things, but am about to lose hours of gameplay. Can anyone help please? It just exits out to the main menu, sometimes I get an error message about a crash, sometimes not.

Are you using the latest beta? There was something affecting FFIV that was fixed (although I'm not positive it's included there)
