Pokemon Games crashing within about 30 seconds of loading

I tried pokemon platinum on the demo version and i made it through the intro into the house, figured I was good. Now with the full version I cannot seem to make it past the enter your name menu in pokemon black diamond and platinum. I have tried messing with almost every setting but nothing seems to be working.

what version are you using. state the version number.
