Impulse controller issue

First and foremost, your app is amazing. I'm finally able to play Rune Factory 3, and I'm loving it.

My issue lies with controller support, and button mapping. I recently received my Impulse controller from their kickstarter about a year ago, and the device itself looks great, but it doesn't use any standard of gamepad inputs, and so it drastically limits the applications that it'll interface with. Your application is one of the few that it lists as compatible, but I'm actually still having an issue with it.

I can map the keys just fine in the menu, without any issues, but when I'm in game trying to use those keys, I'm getting intermittent results. Sometimes the game will receive a command, but more often than not it won't. This only applies to the mapped buttons, and the d-pad works without issues.

I'm not sure where this compatibility issues stems from, but I can clarify that some other emulators are not having the issue with this device (GBC A.D.), and some of my other controllers are not having this issue with your application (ie. Xbox360 controller and Nyko gamepad (Though it's having it's own issues of not being able to map the analog triggers, and not being able to remap the standard d-pad for the advanced mapping options))

Links to the device in case you're not familiar.

I'm honestly kind of surprised to hear that it works if it doesn't have native Android support. Maybe it'll be possible to work with Lordus on this, to see what's really happening with the button events. It'd be easiest if he could get one of the controllers himself but it seems like that could be a problem, if it's still tied up in fulfilling KS orders and new ones are in pre-order only...

They may be able to send you one for development purposes. From what I gather from their comments, they're pretty supportive of app developers embracing their product, and yours is a big seller for the product in the first place. If not, I'd be willing to loan one of mine out for an indeterminate amount of time, as I vaguely recall working with you back when I was running psp-haxors as Apatheticloser with Chaoszero.

It supposedly has native support, but sends the command as keyboard presses via the build in virtual keyboard. I don't really understand it.

Just to confirm - do you have it set to the universal OS mode as shown here: http://www.impulsecontroller.com/SDK/ ?

Yes, they answered immediately.
There is no reason it shouldn't work correctly right now, but they said they would send a sample, so I can test myself.

I suppose it could be how my S4 handles the device input. I'll try it on a friends phone.

So I can get it to work on my phone now, but needing to do the step to make it works confuse me. I have to connect the device, switch my input keyboard off of the standard keyboard that it sync's to (I typically switch it to skype) then load drastic which uses the standard keyboard keys that I mapped to the device.

If I disconnect the device, and then reconnect it I have to repeat these steps.
