Hi guys first post here but I searched a bit and couldn't find anything to help me out with my issue. I am playing pokemon heart gold on drastic and once I beat lance the game runs the credits and then I have to start up again using an in game save where it would set me up for the next part of the game. I can't do an in game save and have been saving my progress with the emulator. Any help?

Why can't you do an in game save?

Sighs Savestates shouldn't be relied on in the first place, when you first start Pokemon Heartgold you're supposed to press UP+SELECT+B combination together at the same time, AT the title screen so you can delete the current in-game save stored in the game, THEN you can save in-game normally...that's just how the game was made obviously it says so in the Instruction booklet but you're using a ROM that's why you didn't know.

@Eric Bazinga, he can't do an in-game save because he has another in-game save stored in it and the game won't allow you to over-write it, plus hes been playing through with Savestates only. This is why I want to upload those fresh,clean in-game Pokemon saves...(-_-)

Wow that's like, the dumbest saving method ever. In X you can overwrite your save...

I'm pretty sure Pokemon games up to Generation 3 can save and overwrite in-game save.

In Pokemon Generation 4 and Pokemon Generation 5 games like:

Platinum/Pearl/Diamond/Soulsilver/Heartgold/Black and White 2/Black and White

you first must delete the in-game save currently stored in the game, then start a new game to save in-game normally.

Pokemon Devs added this "lock" so people wouldn't accidently overwrite a in-game save with 100+ hours in it with a new game save starting fresh...lots of stories about kids crying how people starting a new game and they lost their legendaries and stuff.

Yeah I remember I bought a used copy of X and had to delete the save file (they were barely into the game anyway, nothing to lose). I had to look it up, and basically you have to input a certain button combination in order to delete the save.

Well lucky I'm getting those saves up maybe in a week or less. only cost me 8+ hours day lols it's like homework but fun and enjoyable.

That's the good part about doing this XD

Indeed Eric, it's fun coming home from work with a goal to accomplish (those PKMN in-game saves)

Pokemon Soulsilver and Heartgold people can't pass the game because in-game save overwriting issue.
