RNG issues

Lately, I´ve been having some trouble trying to abuse RNG in Dragon Quest IX. The thing is, that the game has an option which allows you to make a quick save in case you can´t go to a church (those are the savepoints) to save your game normally. This would let you to restart your game with a new value generated by the RNG. However, when I load the game the value appears to be the same the every time. For example, my sage heals the same amount of HP when I use a healing spell as it did in the previous save (the amount of HP healed is also random, it moves on a specific range of values). What I wanted to know is if this is a glitch of the game or it´s caused by the emulator. Thanks in advance.

Are you trying to do the hoimi table trick?
Are you just loading the quick save, or are you restarting the rom, or are you fully quiting DraStic and reloading everything from scratch with no savestates being used after reopening Drastic?

Yeah, you got me. I'm trying to do that trick XD.
This is what I do:
1- go to the boss room and press quick save, then before the title screen shows I go to the drastic menu and press reset game. I should clarify I'm not using the savestate option of drastic, the quicksave option is an in-game feature.
2- The game automatically returns to the title screen and I load the quick savedata. Finally, I use Jack's Knack which lets you to change your vocation (in this case to a low-leveled sage who will heal my low-on-health character)
As I didn't succeed the first time I did it (the hoimi site didn't provide me a single link for the heal table) I tried to do it again but as I said before, I kept getting the same amount of HP healed anytime I used the heal spell. This made me think that the RNG wasn't working correctly and it was giving me the same value over and over again.
PD: if there's any grammar mistake I apologize for that, I'm not american nor british and english is not my native language.

Are you setting the game to use a fixed clock value?

This is what I was most curious about.
As far as I can tell the Hoimi trick
requires the DS to be turned off after doing the quick save and before you load the quick save. This probably has to do with how the new rng seed value is generated. I don't think just reloading from the title screen would work on a normal DS let alone an emulator.
So lets try some fun tests and see if we can get it to work.
1. After you quick save (in game) open up the DraStic menu and hit the "Reset game" option. After the game fully resets try the heals and see if they come up with different values. Did that work? If yes then great if not then....
2. Again after a quick save (again in game) open up the Drastic menu and hit the "quit" option. While you are at it also clear drastic from your recent apps list too (just in case your phones version of android does something odd like keeping Drastic kinda running to speed up reopening). Now reopen drastic and and
Do Not select continue on DraStic's main screen, actually select your rom and start it up that way. Now test if the quick save rng trick works.

Sorry for the double post. Exo do you know if resetting ing the rom vs exiting the whole emulator and then reopening the emulator and rom offer any appreciable differences as far as resetting values a physical DS would generate upon turning on with a cartridge in the slot?

I tried both methods and none of them worked
About the clock value, I'm currently using my device's clock as the RTC that uses drastic. In other words, I have the "always use system time for RTC" applied. I'll try to use the custom clock and set it on 2010, it may work but I don't think so.
PD: nope, didn't work either.

Exploiting the game...well it's more fun than cheats.
So I found this on Google, best you do this "trick" on an actual DS, as you need to actually TURN IT OFF completely.
There 3 methods to this "trick" you are doing:
Hoimi table
Map method
Timing method (I can't find any info for this method).
But it probably have something to do with the timer on the emulator, then on an actual DS Lite.

[!!!WARNING Dark Abysmal Area!!!] Your last resort is...um...cheats *GASPS* yes cheats found in the Drastic Cheat Database, you can simply ignore this, but it's always there for you all in one place...instead of having to painstakingly copy and paste the cheat codes back and forth and is totally optional. if you don't like cheats, cool good for you then.

Well, using cheats is the last thing I want to do, but since there is a cheat which guarantees to always get the rare drop from a monster I'm pretty much forced to use it. At its core, it does technically the same as the hoimi table which also gives you a 100% chance to get the drop. I'd rather do this than just edit my equipment and put the armor pieces directly into my pouch.

I see you choose the easy option to save time and trouble...a few cheats wouldn't hurt.
I didn't force your hand there buddy...that was completely up to you. Besides who cares cheats or not, it's you who is enjoying the game and no one can say or do anything to you. So have fun playing Dragon Quest IX.
