Hi!
How do you think a Nexus 7 (2013) would compare against the g pad 8.3.
I know both have a quad core snapdragon CPU so either should be fine right?

Not all qualcom CPUs are the equivalent. Although in this case the s4 pro and snapdragon 600 are pretty much. The biggest difference is price and internal storage.

If you can get the nexus 2013 32gb veraion for the same price as the gPad then the nexus is a really good device whith a large enthusiast community supporting it with custom roms and many other tweeks.

If you can only get the 16gb version for the same price or if the gPad is cheeper get the gPad since it has microsd expandable storage.

If that were the only difference I'd go with the gPad since it clocks at 1.7GHz instead of 1.5GHz. But as you say that's far from the only difference.

Confusingly, despite having an S4 Pro Nexus 7 2013 apparently has Krait 300s, unlike the Nexus 4's S4 Pro which has 1.5GHz Krait 200s. There's talk that Qualcomm actually rebranded Snapdragon 600 for these S4 Pros.

Did not know about the whole rebranding talk I was more going for qualcom's own reported stats and implemented feature sets. You would probably know more about if one had a better neon implementation or other quarks.

It all comes down to your own idea of what runjing well is.

Can you run it in high rez, multicore 3d renderer off, 0 framskip, lowest audio latency, (insert bell and or wistle here) and get 100%/100% speed on ever nintendo DS game........... No. [In all honesty there are probably very few phones or tablets that could, though that will probably change as processors get better and exo optmizes code though it runs great as is.)

Can you run 90% of games with out high rez, multicore 3d renderer on or off (depending on the game if it plays well with it), low to 0 framskip, lower audio latency, and get a pretty stable 90-1000%/100% speed....... yes probably.

There will be some games that for... reasons will probably not play at full speed or close to full speed on any non snapdragon 800/exynos 7000/tegra k1, but if you want 100% compatability and a price under $150 then buying a real Nintendo DS (also luckily the DS carts are not region locked either).

Depends on what you consider more than enough for drastic. It's a pretty different experience to run it on a snapdragon 400 and a snapdragon 800.

I have a device with the Snapdragon 400 chipset. Frameskip 0 + high res 3d rendering + quillez filter and I dont get lag in any games

Have you tried games heavy on 3d? I distinctly remember dragon quest 4 lagging quite a bit on my old snapdragon 400 phone.
