Help please.

So I'm playing this game called Last Window : The Secret of Cape West. And there is a part that you have to only partially close the ds system to be able to get an item you need and to advance further.

I was wondering if there was a way to only partially "close the ds system" instead of the whole system like in the settings. In settings it gives you the option to make the screen black like you're actually closing the ds even though you're playing on the phone. Is there a way to do ththat but only partially so I can get passed this game?

I don't see how a game can tell if the DS lid is only partially closed. The DS reports if it's open either open or closed, nothing in between. Have you confirmed that pressing the close button doesn't work? How about closing it and quickly reopening it?

Yeah I've tried everything. Just didn't know if I was missing something in the settings or anything. But I looked through many different walkthrough on the game and it says that you don't close the ds all the way.

Unless I'm totally in the dark about how DS functions on this I don't even see how it's possible to detect a partially closed state at all, much less distinguish it from a fully closed state. The system detects that the lid is closed with a hall effect sensor (using the magnet in the right speaker) that only activates when it's in close contact. It'd need some other totally different sort of sensor just for detecting that it's partially closed, and there's no way that'd be in there. That and you'd need a totally different mechanism for reading it.

But it could be something else that's not emulated correctly with the lid closing (or something else).

I've seen some FAQs say that you have to close it partially for the music box, but then I've seen other things like this:

"Hold R, and white the slit in the moving "cylinder" is directly above the key, close your DS for a few seconds. When you open it, quickly grab the key. (:"

Ok, I'll try that.
