[2.2.1.1a]Nvidia shield Button mapping error

Post by qianliyan » Mon Aug 18, 2014 8:47 pm

Version:2.2.1.1a

On my shield, the shield defaul button mapping is mostly right and convenient,but there is still an error.
/**************************************************************************************
According to device,button A and B have been swapped with each other, which causes some bad game experience.
**************************************************************************************/
Hope it to be fixed in the next version.

Thanks.

This isn't an error, it's a preference and something chosen deliberately. As far as we're concerned it makes more sense to assign the buttons based on their relative positioning so that they're like DS controls. This way you get a physical arrangement that matches what the game developers intended, instead of following naming which is more or less arbitrary. For example, imagine playing a game like Mario where the run and jump buttons are opposite each other.

Ultimately we can only have one default and we can't satisfy everyone, so we picked what makes most sense - fortunately if you don't like it it's very easy to change.
