Unfortunately to get that controller to work with anything that isn't the onlive app you will need root. USB/BT joycenter DOESN'T require root however if you want to simulate joypad to touchscreen input an addon app DOES need root.

Well not "Anything". Like I said it works great with the Sonic The Hedgehog Android games as well as some others.
