Hello,
I live and work in a very remote area of Alaska. I do not have access to a wifi connection unless I pay $14/day if I am on land.. most of the time I am at sea with absolutely zero access. Right now I am using a work computer that is plugged into an ethernet cable while I am on land
I bought an nvidia shield + Drastic to play DS games on, I installed the app when I had a wifi connection. It was working great for about 2 weeks then a couple days ago it started giving me an error 291 code, that my license could not be verified. Obviously this is because I dont have wifi.
Is there any workaround here? I was having so much fun with this thing lol, there's nothing to do here except work, read books, watch movies. Would love if someone could help me get this thing working for when I'm up here.
Fortunately my work contract is almost over so I'll be flying back to civilization in seattle soon, but I bought this device + drastic for when I'm up here with no connection. thankfully my other emulators work fine on my shield without an internet connection, but I was having the most fun using drastic
Thanks for your help... hope I can get this working, I paid, I dont understand why I should need a connection to constantly verify it... shouldn't it have verified once when I first bought it =/
Error 291 help
Re: Error 291 help
Normally it only needs to be verified once after installation, then you can play offline as much as you want.
The cached license must have been deleted somehow. This would happen for example, if you clear the app's cache, and in rare cases if the app crashes badly.
Another cause could be if you changed the Google account that you're using on the device.
To get it working again now, you will have to go online with the device, though.

Re: Error 291 help
If your device is rooted it may be possible to tether it to your work computer over USB, so that you can share its internet connection. There's a guide here:

Re: Error 291 help
Okay thanks for the peace of mind. It did have a weird freeze up on me around the same time that caused me to reboot the shield, maybe that had something to do with it. Next time I have wifi ill reverify it and hopefully it will be fixed!!Lordus wrote:Normally it only needs to be verified once after installation, then you can play offline as much as you want.
