There are frame drops in Puyo Puyo 7 when there is a character animation. Disabling the animations from the game settings does not help (frames will drop anyway when the animations should appear).
The animations that im talking about are the one showed where there is a chain of 2 or more, not the one at the bottom screen
I played really badly, don't judge

Re: Frame drops in Puyo Puyo 7 (english mod)
Yes it does.
The issue get reduced if you set the audio latency to very high for some seconds and then set it again to low. (Just increasing the latency does not do anything)
Another thing, the game does the same on DesMuMe. On DesMuMe there is an easy fix that is changing the ROM loading mode to "Load entirely to RAM" (default is "Stream from Disk").
This makes me think that issue may be my memory being too slow

Maybe your memory's read/write speed isn't fast enough. There is nothing we can do in this case.
OBJECTION!

Try disabling the "Uncompress to file" option in Advanced settings which should load the game from RAM, but you will need enough RAM on your device. Alternatively, try running the ROM from internal storage as often external SD cards are not fast enough.
