Transferring Old Saves

Post by larrylo88 » Sun Mar 06, 2016 5:06 am

I only recently bought DraStic DS emulator yesterday.

I transferred a few roms and saves from my old NDS over to my Galaxy Tab 2 sdcard just now. I started it up and it appeared to work fine. I tried Yoshi Touch and Go, Mr Driller, and Mario Kart DS. Brought back some memories. Looks chunky but great nostalgic feeling. However I noticed that my old saves were ignored for Mario Kart. I spent lots of time maxing out Mario Kart.

I have searched the forum looking for advise. However there where no situations like mine. My old NDS has a R4 card. The save files are in .sav format. I copied the roms and sav files to the sdcard/DraStic folder. The app found the roms. It totally ignored my .sav files.

I also found the app saves in Tablet/DraStic... The .dsv file format looks different to the .sav files.

Any way that the app can load up my .sav file data? Or with a Yes/No question.

Thanks.

R4 .sav isn't supported directly. You can use this convertor:

http://shunyweb.info/convert.php

Select the third option (the one that includes .sav) for source format. Then select the first option (raw format [autodetection]) for destination format. Rename the resulting file so it has a .dsv extension and place it in sdcard/drastic/backup.

I converted my old saves with the website provided. Renamed the file extensions. I had to put them in my Tablet/DraStic/backup folder for it to fully take effect.

I noticed that the Pokemon Diamond conversion did not work. The browser reported that there was 146k of data. After saving it to my HDD, the resulting file was only 4k, and did not work.

It doesn't? I remember a .sav from an old R4 card (with wood r4 firmware) to .dsv and it worked with drastic. Thats what I remember, drastic was at least able to read it, this was an old version
