I would like to be a beta tester.
I would like to be a beta tester.
I have a Kindle Fire Phone, it has a 2.3 quad core. and I have been a fan of drastic ds from when it first came out, I have had every update that has came out, and would love to help any way I can. Thank you for such a great emu.
also I have one more question, How do I get Homebrew games for the ds to work on the emulator? I have tried many times before but failed. Would love to play smash bros on it. and I know I can play the n64, but I mainly play on the ds.

beta tester topic
Just follow the steps in the above post and make sure you are using the same google account to sign up to the Google group as the one you used to purchase DraStic from the play store. Right now there is not much of a difference between the beta version and the full release version though.
Others would probably be able to help more with the ds homebrew function. I only ever really bothered with using VNDS and there was already an android port for that so I never bothered learning too much about DraStic's homebrew setup. I do know it has to be in dldi format and the instructions in DraStic (hit the question mark on the main screen and then instructions) talkn about making an image, but only in linux.
If you can find me a good clean link to the SSB homebrew game, I would not mind trying to make a working img for you. I looked it up and it reminded me of an old psp homebrew game I used to like but lost track of over the years.

Thank you for the reply Tksilver, the like to the game is http://gamebrew.org/wiki/Super_Smash_Bros_Crash!_DS
I will look into how to do it my self. I look into it before but was unsuccessful in doing this rom. Thank you for all your help.
I sighed up for the beta tester also.

Re: I would like to be a beta tester.
VNDS - Visual Novel DS interpreter
It is a ds homebrew/android app that allows you to play converted visual novels on a DS or android device. The top screen shows the art and the botom the text/ controls. The downside is it basically makes you have to run one of the few visual novels it supports through a converter to descale the images to DS resolution and to create what is essentially a script file for the dialouge text. The scripts are hand written and the image converter only worked on games using open visual novel engines or ones that were already cracked (kirakira, what ever sharnoth and inganock uses). So there are only about 15 games I know about that even work, though almost all of them are classics of the genre.
I don't tend to use vnds much anymore due to the improvements in engine specific android emulators.
Ren'py (though most of the really good comercial ones are ported and sold in the google play store), kirakira emulation and onscripter for nscripter games (classic engine used in some type moon games and other classics).

Re: I would like to be a beta tester.
Well I spent the better part of 2 hours or so messing with linux and windows programs creating a 200MB drastic_dldi.img file, but unfortunatly once you hit start on the splash screen the homebrew crashes.
Re: I would like to be a beta tester.
Thank you, for the help.
sucks that it wouldn't work. But I understand that sometimes coding and programming can be a pain.

The Smash Bros one? Was it R4 patched? I could look at it I guess..TkSilver wrote:Well I spent the better part of 2 hours or so messing with linux and windows programs creating a 200MB drastic_dldi.img file, but unfortunatly once you hit start on the splash screen the homebrew crashes.

Yep the smash bros one.Exophase wrote: The Smash Bros one? Was it R4 patched? I could look at it I guess..
I patched it with the r4tf.dldi file. I did not see a r4ts.dldi mentioned in the instructions on the official site.
It definitely read the some of the files I put in the img since when I altered the folder structure (removed the highest folder that contained the rest) the homebrew no longer went to the splash screen but instead gave a file not found error screen (emulated error screen not a drastic error).
But I am not particularly familiar with this homebrew so I do not know if my issues are with the img file I made, with the dldi patch I did, with the version of the homebrew I downloaded, or with drastic itself.
Sorry I can not be of much more help.
Re: I would like to be a beta tester.
Thank you both for the help, and could you recommend an app on the play store that would play homebrew or that smash bros game? just wondering. and I just got the beta testing.
Now I can help out.
