Suddenly unable to continue game

Hi all,
So I originally downloaded the app about a year ago from the Google play store on my Oppo android phone.
Been playing Pokémon heartgold on off since then with no issues.
Whilst playing recently I was suddenly unable to select continue and the rom that I was using now no longer appears within load new game.
Strange given that I was playing the game 2 hours prior without problem.
Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.
