Stylus not working

I'm playing Pokemon Heartgold and my touchscreen has been fine until I got in the Pokeathalon. I'm stuck on the screen explaining how to play. It says to "touch here" but it won't work. I've tried all of the suggestions people have suggested like making sure the touch screen is on bottom screen, making sure the stylus button on menu is turned on and everything and nothing is working and now I'm just permanently stuck there
