Well, it is not really intuitive... I think that aspect of the UI needs to be changed, but I'm not sure of a good way to do it.

Are you actually using the layout you are editing? You can change the current layout in the bottom part of the Game Menu.

It doesn't crash on my device (Galaxy S5, CyanogenMod 12.1, current Drastic beta version). Tested with the American version of the ROM.
