ok i renamed it to .sav but both Desmume and NO GBA cant read the .sav file what do i do now?

Cant find ingame save/rom save?
Hello,
I am trying to find the Ingame save for Pokemon Hearthgold
usual Emulators create a .sav file or save it within the rom itself?
im trying to get the save game onto my other emulator so i can trade pokemon and make them evolve?
but when i get the rom off the phone and use pc emulator it wont ...
